I love Pinterest. I haven't actually made anything until last Saturday. I saw this idea on how to change a men's sweatshirt into a nice sweater/blazer. If you want to see directions and try it yourself click here.
It does take some sewing know-how but with so many videos and tutorials out there, I am sure you could find one.
Ideas like this really encourages my thrift store addiction. I am "thrifty" and I am always looking for ways to save money. I have wanted to learn how to tailor my clothes to fit so I jumped right into this project. I have a few things in my closet I think could use some adjusting.
This Old Navy Sweatshirt was one of my son's that someone gave him. The length fit my petite arm length but it was quite baggy all around the arms and the middle.
I should have taken one of my existing sweaters to make sure I had the size right when resewing the sides. I just cut a straight line down the sides and well I look so little because it is so snug that I can't actually breathe...not really. It was a short and sweet little project that I had so much fun doing.
I love some of the other things that this woman has created. Her before and after pregnancy dress was amazing. I don't know if I have that kind of vision. I do have the ability to duplicate other people's creativity and so really I am just sharing this fun accomplishment.
As a mom, there are so few things that you can say, "Look at what I just did!" because they are so quickly undone. Here is one of my accomplishments and I am sure it will make my sister Amy, the queen of restyle, proud.
If I redid the sleeves to make them Meleah's size, she would have a stylish tunic sweatshirt. She is pretty cute no matter what and is thrilled with the new jacket from Mom.
I am not sure what these sleeves are called but they are cute
and easy to make.

I am SO Honored by the title you gave me! Queen of Restyle! This is such a great reconstruction. I have remade even my own zip up hoodie sweatshirts to update them. YES I AM PROUD!!! I love to see this stuff. Keep up the good work and if you ever have an item that needs some help but you don't know what kind just pick my brain for inspiration. Sistah, You ROCK!!
ReplyDeleteHi Liza, I have looked at your blog several times but have never commented. This is a cute remake. I have a post on by blog about all the Craft/Sewing blogs I like. If you want the name of some them let me know. I make a few things when I have time. Very fun, huh?!
